Description

This wonderful array of reflection and dark nebulae only gets to 18 degrees altitude here, and requires some clear moonless nights in April in order to catch it for a brief period right at the end of astronomical darkness. I've been lucky over the last week to have been able to have the scope set up outside all week (lightweight covers on in the day), and take advantage of a number of clear nights, albeit also having to deal with a fair amount of hazy cloud and a couple of nights of fairly gusty wind. Anyway, I wasn't overly optimistic about this due to the low altitude, but actually it's come out rather well I think!

It's a 2 panel mosaic, and involved using a 90 minute imaging window over 4 nights. In processing I've tried to keep it reasonably subtle, and avoid excessive stretching or over-saturation of the colours.
